Good morning readers! Today from Slazenger Heritage, we want to talk about the solidarity and altruism that we have experienced in recent months. The worldwide elite sport has many athletes fighting together against COVID-19.
To face the pandemic crisis, Rafa Nadal and Pau Gasol, started the spanish campaign #NuestraMejorVictoria.
They invited worldwide athletes to join and support this initiative. The objective is to get 11 million euros for the project “Cruz Roja Responde” and help 1.3 million affected for the virus. With that money, it is expected to buy medical supplies and hospital infrastructure to help the most vulnerable. In addition, it is proposed to create accommodation for special groups that need it.
Several athletes joined this project. Fernando Alonso, Iker Casillas, the Sainz, Sergio Busquets, Ona Carbonell, Carolina Marín, Alejandro Valverde and more. The initiative has been very well received and is close to reach its goal.
The swiss Roger Federer and his wife Mirka Vavrinec have also joined forces to face this battle. The couple has donated almost a million euros to help the most vulnerable families in their country.
They ensure that their contribution is just a start, and that they hope more people will join together to support those who need it most.
The Novak Djokovic Foundation has donated one million euros for Serbia. In addition, the Foundation is managing the contribution made by people from all over the world, for the purchase of medical equipment and supplies for the country.
“This is what life is all about – giving,” were the words of Djokovic. Without doubt, an inspiring phrase that motivates to join this cause and bring some hope to people.
Support for tennis players
The Big Three has not only given its financial support for medical supplies, but also has focused on supporting their sport. Nadal, Djokovic and Federer, with some tennis players, will financially support professional players who are in positions 250 and 700 in the ranking. The ATP will support one million dollars for those between 150 and 400.
Despite the hard time we are facing, we are happy of seeing many acts of solidarity and people bringing hope and joy to others. For sure, all these athletes will consolidate even more as great legends.
From Slazenger Heritage, we hope you liked this post and we invite you to follow the example of these athletes fighting together against COVID. And please, take care of ourselves. See you soon readers!
