Athletes together against COVID-19

Good morning readers! Today from Slazenger Heritage, we want to talk about the solidarity and altruism that we have experienced in recent months. The worldwide elite sport has many athletes fighting together against COVID-19.

Rafael Nadal

To face the pandemic crisis, Rafa Nadal and Pau Gasol, started the spanish campaign #NuestraMejorVictoria.

They invited worldwide athletes to join and support this initiative. The objective is to get 11 million euros for the project “Cruz Roja Responde” and help 1.3 million affected for the virus. With that money, it is expected to buy medical supplies and hospital infrastructure to help the most vulnerable. In addition, it is proposed to create accommodation for special groups that need it.

Several athletes joined this project. Fernando Alonso, Iker Casillas, the Sainz, Sergio Busquets, Ona Carbonell, Carolina Marín, Alejandro Valverde and more. The initiative has been very well received and is close to reach its goal.

They ensure that their contribution is just a start, and that they hope more people will join together to support those who need it most.

The Novak Djokovic Foundation has donated one million euros for Serbia. In addition, the Foundation is managing the contribution made by people from all over the world, for the purchase of medical equipment and supplies for the country.

“This is what life is all about – giving,” were the words of Djokovic. Without doubt, an inspiring phrase that motivates to join this cause and bring some hope to people.

Support for tennis players

The Big Three, comprised of Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, and Roger Federer, have not only generously donated funds for the provision of essential medical supplies during the ongoing global crisis, but have also focused on supporting their own sport. These three tennis greats, along with some of their fellow players, have pledged financial aid to support professional tennis players ranked between 250 and 700 in the world.

In addition, the ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) will contribute one million dollars to support players ranked between 150 and 400. These incredible acts of generosity and support during such a challenging time are truly heartwarming and inspiring.

It is heartening to see that amidst the difficulties and struggles we face, there are still many individuals and groups who are committed to acts of solidarity and bringing hope and joy to others. Undoubtedly, these athletes will go down in history as great legends, not just for their incredible performances on the court, but also for their compassionate actions off the court. Their support for their fellow players is a testament to the unity and strength of the tennis community.

From Slazenger Heritage, we hope you liked this post and we invite you to follow the example of these athletes fighting together against COVID. And please, take care of ourselves. See you soon readers!
